I’ve eaten at chatters since it reopened in 2006 about 6 times and everytime has been
unforgettable. King of the kitchen is Joe Speziale who is renowned for is seafood dishes
but I must admit his steaks and even the Kangaroo I had the other night were to die for.
Together with Rene, who assists and is a wonderful chef in her own right, there is a wide choice of meals at very reasonable prices. I’ve had brekky there once and the eggs royale were a knockout. It is licensed and BYO and serves lovely coffees and capuccinos

I would most certainly have to agree with you about this place. Joe delivers top Restauraunt quality food in a Cafe and at great prices, you can’t go wrong. I have eaten a number of times at this place and find it hard to go past the Sicillian Muscles or Seafood Risotto, YUMMMM. As for sweets, the Baci Mousse is melt in the mouth material that should not be overlooked. Tracey always greets you with a warm friendly smile.
Chatters has a very relaxed atmosphere, great music and is exceptionally clean. Eespecially the toilets, which is a good reflection of the kitchen.
You wont be dissapointed : )
Unfortunately I was disappointed!
I didn’t get to taste the wonderful food this time because the service was sooooo appauling that we walked out.
We had to get our own additional chair for the 5 people in our group who were directed to a 4 place setting table. We had to get our own menus, it took almost 30 minutes for anyone to come to us to take our order.
My son went up and asked how much longer our meals were going to be 55 minutes after our orders were placed and we were advised another 5-10 minutes.
Unfortunately it was another 20 minutes when we got up and walked out after paying for the coffees we had consumed - but no food. By this time it was 1 hour 45 minutes from walking in the door. It was just totally unacceptable and I have never walked out of a restaurant for this reason ever before in my life.
I had really been looking forward to a lovely brunch as I had experienced their food once before, but it was not to be.
They were obviously understaffed and not at all prepared for the trade that day.
To top it all off it was Mothers day and it ended up being a really disappointing experience.
I will not waste my time going there ever again and will certainly pass this feedback on to anyone I know who may be considering going there.
I am surprised they are still in business if this is the way they treat their patrons. I can say this because after leaving I recalled the last time I went there they mucked up our orders delivering mains before entree. God help them!

Maybe booking a table on one of the busiest days of the year might be a suggestion in any eatery you go to in the future because we did and it was wonderful. I agree he may have been understaffed that particular day but priority I imagine (or protocol) demands
preference be given to those who booked. I eat around the world in some of the best restaurants because of my business and Heidelberg is very lucky to have one of the best chefs in Melbourne. I know recently he has changed and acquired new staff and now
the restaurant is named “Zio Joes” . If you should ever want to try the best food in town
and not merely brunch try ZIO JOES and let me know what you think . As you can see I
am quite passionate about my food and I am yet to be disappointed by his magnificent
cuisine.

I think Zio Joe’s is the best place to eat in Heidelberg. We eat there on a very regular basis and the food is always sensational. I highly recommend this restaurant!
My wife and I often go to Zio Joe’s and are always very impressed with the fantastic food, lovely ambiance and great service. It’s one of the best restaurants in Melbourne - so we obviously also highly recommend it!
